Stall at Kim San Leng Food Centre fined and suspended due to cockroach infestation
A food stall at Kim San Leng Bishan was fined $1,100 and suspended for 2 weeks due to a cockroach infestation.
This food stall has accumulated 16 demerit points during the past 12 months for failing to keep the premises clean and free of cockroach twice. According to NEA, the suspension starts from 25th July 2017.
Before this incident, the entire food centre was suspended for a day due to failing to keep the premises free from rats early this year in January.
Base on NEA rules and regulations, a licensee who accumulates 12 or more demerit points during a 12-month period may face a 2 weeks or 4 weeks suspension or license cancellation depending on his past record. In order to resume work, food handlers working on the suspended premises would have to attend and pass the basic food hygiene course again.
