On 11 January 2016, a fatal accident related to workplace safety happened at a waste collection centre.
An unconscious worker was found in a waste compactor located within a waste collection centre. He was bleeding from his mouth and nose by the time founded. Due to serious injuries, death announcement was made after sending him to the hospital.
What can we do to prevent this type of accident from happening?
- Only allow workers with professional training or authorized workers to operate the machinery
- Provide training on safe work procedure for operating the waster compactor and bin lifter to workers
- Constantly emphasizing the importance of following the safe work procedure while operating the machines
- Conduct a thorough Risk Assessment (RA) for all work activities to foresee and manage any potential work hazards that may appear related to waste compaction
